I am not a fan of having my photo taken because it generally feels awkward and so far removed from what’s important to me. BUT, sometimes you have a good friend that is a very talented photographer and she can ply you with champagne to get updated photos taken. Thank you, Shelly Strazis, for taking photos of me that I am actually happy to share with the world. This is also a game of spot Lily.
After spending over a decade owning a fashion brand in downtown Los Angeles, I started searching for ways that Dolan could begin to make a positive & meaningful impact in the world. We already considered ourselves to be fair, humane, and sensitive to the environment, yet we were still questioning how we could truly make a difference. Then one day I found my answer standing, or sleeping rather right in front of me.
We are so excited to announce the start of #DOLANhandmade, monthly craft classes hosted by us in our studios, just south of DTLA. We had been tinkering for quite some time with the idea of creating a craft room or a place/time for people to relax and create. As with many extra-curricular ideas, it stayed in dream form until we met fiber artist Mimi Haddon, a super inspiring creator and instructor based in LA. More on Mimi in the coming weeks, but suffice it to say that she is one of the most creative people we’ve ever met.
One of my favorite aspects of this fashion adventure is all of the wonderful people I get to meet and places I get to experience. A couple of weeks ago I took a trip to Guatemala to meet with some of our DOLANmakers and venture off the grid for a little excursion to Antigua.
