Meet Doctor Jen Foe-ParkerREAD THE INTERVIEW
Today as we celebrate International Women’s Day, we want to spotlight the special women in healthcare who have worked so hard for our community. Their jobs are tough, and never has this been truer than these past 12 months as the world has battled COVID-19.
Every day, they go to work to protect and care for the community and inspire us to help others in whatever ways they can.
In our small part, DOLAN does the same thing—through our clothes and through our nonprofit, The Laundry Truck LA. And since our healthcare practitioners work so hard, we want them to be comfortable at work and at rest. This year we expanded our InfraCycle line to keep you comfortable away from the office, and very soon we’ll launch our new lightweight scrubs to keep our healthcare providers comfortable at work too (see exclusive early sneak peek modeled by Doctor Jen!). Here are some thoughts from Jodie to launch our Everyday Healthcare Heroes:
"After 15 years focused on fashion, I have had the honor of meeting with members of the healthcare community since last spring. Every single practitioner, from ER doctors and nurses, to dentists, physical therapists and nutritionists, have had to adjust and adapt their daily routines to provide safe, comfortable care for us all.
I have learned so much, and have been so impressed, and now I want to share their stories with others.
So today, we are excited to kick off Everyday Healthcare Heroes —featuring the women who are working so hard, day in and day out, and making such an enormous difference in our lives. If you are a healthcare worker, please click here and take a moment to share your story with us. Or, if you know of someone you’d like to nominate for us to consider spotlighting, please send us their name and contact information.
This series will continue through March, and maybe longer, because I know there are so many wonderful stories to share…. and celebrating our female leaders deserves more than just one day!"
What is your job?
I am a General Surgeon.
Where do you work?
Kaiser Permanente, Woodland Hills, California
What makes your job unique?
I care for people with a wide spectrum of conditions—from emergency bowel blockages to cancers and repairing hernias. My patients are really amazing individuals and it is both an honor and a huge responsibility to help them achieve better health.
What do you love to do away from work?
I love to be outside! I like to hike, bike, garden and read.
What is the most memorable moment from the past year?
My husband and I welcomed our first child in March of 2020. It was the start of the COVID lockdown and there was so much fear and uncertainty in our world. My son is my ongoing reminder that despite all of the unrest that happened around us in 2020, there is goodness and hope for the future.
What is the key lesson learned from last year?
As we pulled through the most recent COVID surge, I found myself thinking often of him to remind me that our actions today will help our next generation live in a better and safer world.
What women inspire you?
I am inspired by the “everyday heroes” around me—for example, the woman working full time and yet also finding time to help her kids learn at home; the essential workers who come to work every day despite the risks around them; and the women who enact change in big and small ways to make life better for others.
