Take a deep breath!

We've got this!

Here are 5 quick strategies to keep handy for those moments when you are starting to feel like you are sinking:

  • Remember your WHY (Thank you Simon Sinek!): Have your deepest BIG WHY in the front of your mind, keep it in your calendar as reminder, keep it on your vision board, and keep it handy whenever you feel like you just don't want to do it anymore. We've all been there, I get it. In those moments, remember why you love life and are willing to keep marching on. The deeper your why, the better! Can you distill it down to one simple phrase or better yet, one word?
  • Big Inhale and Sigh it Out!: Take a deep inhale twice as long as a normal inhale and make an audible SIGH - letting it all go! Find the trigger point right at the top of the inhale and drop that breath like a bag of rocks! Doing this creates is a double parasympathetic nervous system whammy - your body and brain will be tricked into thinking everything is fine!
  • Shake it Out!: Pick either Taylor Swift or Florence and the Machine (or your favorite tune for shaking) and yes, SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE! As weird as it looks, if you give your body a really vigorous shake and keep shaking, it creates a huge energetic release. It’s no coincidence that animals do this all the time. Your mind will be much clearer afterwards.
  • Sing, hum and whistle: Next time you are forced to wait for something, whether it is a computer that isn't cooperating, a line that isn't moving or all that traffic, SING, HUM, OR WHISTLE! This turns a frustrating moment into a musical one and making the most of every opportunity to connect with joy will have a huge impact on your day.
  • Journal: Whether you are an introvert and naturally process stress internally or an extravert who is more likely to want to grab a friend, writing is a fabulous practice to get any feelings and thoughts that are gunked up flowing again. Getting into the habit of writing without any agenda will help spur your creativity too! Win - win!

Most of all, remember when you are feeling stuck, frustrated, or overwhelmed, ask for help. Notice how often before anyone even comes to your aid you find a solution to the problem. Just notice!

Cheering you on from here,
Pamela
